NZDH – Round 3 – Wellington

TROY-LEE-DESIGNS-LOGOK hole

On Saturday the 18th November, round 3 of The Troy Lee Designs NZDH Series heads south to Wellington.  Its 3 years since since our  last visit to the capital and it will be the first time we have raced the ‘K-Hole’ course in Karori.

I suppose unless your from Wellington or have lived there – not many folk will know much about this recently extended trail.  From watching some course previews – i’m picking it will be hard to go fast !

INSTRUCTIONS:

Hosted by WMTBC, the event is taking place on the DH track ‘K-Hole’, located in the forest at the northern end of the large sports-field, Karori park, Karori, Wellington.

The event/finish village will be at the bottom of the track, on the park itself, with the shuttle pickup point being the northern car park of Karori park, next to the Scout Hall at 21 Sunshine Ave. This area is a short 100m ride from finish village. This car park will be closed on the day of the event, accessible by shuttle van and trailer only.
For teams wanting to set up tents in the finish village, the only access is through the sports field itself, so the time to drive in and drop off tents/park will be limited to between 7am-8am on the day, with access at the end of Hildreth St, the eastern end of the park. Due to limited space, we advise teams to bring only what is necessary. Exiting the area will be En mass at the conclusion of the event.
All other parking we recommend to be found on Hildreth St, Fernlea Avenue and Sunshine Avenue.
The shuttle will drive from the car park, up Sunshine Ave, onto Victory Ave, then left onto Montgomery Avenue before dropping of at the playground next to 103 Montgomery Ave. Riders then take the Skyline walkway 100m to the tracks start.
We will have portaloos at the finish village, the sports field public toilets are located at the southern end of the park, on Karori Rd.
Karori is a a suburban area and does not offer any camping facilities. There are many backpackers in the CBD, 10 mins from the park, Wellington City Council also has sites around the city specifically for freedom campers/vans.
Muds Cycles is the closest bike shop being situated on the SW side of Karori Park and will have a site at village also.
A few minutes up the road from the park, are many supermarkets, cafes, fast food outlets, all located at the Karori Shopping Mall.
More info can be found on the FB group ‘K-Hole Crew’.
