The 2017 NZDH season is upon us……

Opening at Rotorua on Saturday the 23rd September 2017 we kick into the things with Round 1, also doubling as the James Dodds Memorial Trophy.

Weather will depend on line choice and that will be made a few days before the event.

The Taniwha track  (National DH) is situated within the Whakarewarewa Forest.

It is 2.3km long with a vertical drop of 320 meters.  It is graded as a 5 and features jumps, drops, rocks, roots and other under-pant soiling rough terrain.

The course is accessed off State Highway 5 just south of the city.  Take Waipa Mill Road – then onto Waipa by-pass Road and continue to the back gate which is at the bottom of Hill Road.  Vehicle access is NOT allowed due to the area being a working forest and restricted access area.  General public access is welcomed.

There will be shuttle vans with bike trailers and normal trailers running from 0700hrs to ferry people, bikes and gear to the pit area, so bring your full set up.

The format is the same for every round:

We encourage that you affiliate to your local club, or a club involved in the series.  It doesn’t cost much and if you intend on racing the National Series – you will have to anyway.  The small cost of affiliation goes a long way to helping clubs put on events like these.
